The concept for the M.A.L.E. INSTITUTE™ was born in 1998 after Rodney
D. Walker sensed a special burden to help young males. He worked
for the Austin Area Urban League as the Director of Education and Youth
Development.
While serving in this capacity, he started seeking a curriculum to help stregthen young males'
character and life skills with a focus on their issues. His
search yielded some good programs, however, few if any with a
specific curriculum designed to address the needs of his
constituency.
This along with seeing other family and friends lives unraveled and
entangled in detrimental systems and lacking guidance into manhood
inspired
Rodney to develop a series of lessons to assist young males in their
holistic development.
Rodney's one pages lessons, talks, and group
exercises with 12 young high school males at Reagan High School quickly
